How Do I Get A Model?

The easiest way to get started is by downloading free, ready-made models from one of several online repositories. Find repositories and browse thousands of models here.

Want to make your own models? Use 3D modeling software, like FreeCAD, OpenSCAD, or Blender, to design and export your 3D model.

Step 2: Slicing Software

What Software is Needed?

3D slicing software converts your model into a set of instructions called G-code, which tells your 3D printer what to do.

LulzBot 3D Printers come with free slicing software, Cura LulzBot Edition, which features quick print profiles and 200+ customization settings for advanced users.

Step 3: Choose Your Material

What Material Should I Use?

LulzBot 3D Printers use 3mm filament and support 30+ materials out of the box. Choose your material based on physical properties or intended application.

  • PLA, a classroom favorite, is inexpensive and produces great prints for light duty uses.
  • ABS, Nylon, and Polycarbonates are ideal for high-strength and high-temperature applications.
  • Specialty filaments include flexible materials, metal composites, wood composites, and more.

Which 3D Printer Should I Get?

The LulzBot Mini is a portable, easy to use 3D printer that comes fully assembled. Users are often able to go from box to printing in under an hour.

The LulzBot TAZ 6 offers nearly double the print area and features a quick change tool head system that allows users to expand their printer's capabilities.
