TAZ 6 ABS+ Enclosure by Printed Solid

Use this ABS acrylic 3D printer enclosure with your LulzBot TAZ 6 to minimize warping and cracking caused by printing in cold and drafty environments while keeping curious hands and paws away from the heated and moving parts of your 3D printer. This new TAZ 6 3D printer enclosure features a strengthened design with ABS panels, LulzBot branded laser-etched acrylic, and comes ready to assemble with all components provided (no 3D printing required).

  • Features

    This enclosure is made with optically clear, lightweight 3mm thick extruded acrylic and rugged ABS panels. Assembly and installation is easy as this kit contains all the necessary hardware, including the four 3D printed corner brackets.

    Advanced users can mount a 40 mm fan to vent air from the enclosure, add filtration, and more. When assembled, this enclosure only adds 62 mm (2.44 in) along the length of the Y-axis (front to back).

    Warnings

    Acrylic can easily crack - do not over tighten the screws. Tighten to hold without movement.

    When cleaning, use dish soap or hand wash and a soft, clean cloth. Do not use Windex® or other glass cleaning solutions. Do not use a hard sponge, scrub, or abrasive surface.

    Emissions and Ultrafine Particles

    This is an enclosure designed to minimize the effects of the ambient environment around your printer and keep curious hands and paws away from the heated and moving components of your 3D printer. It does include a built-in location for mounting a 40mm fan to vent air from the chamber and further modifications can be made.

    Users concerned about emissions and ultrafine articles should instead use materials made from Eastman Amphora co-polyesters such as colorFabb nGen and Chroma Strand Labs INOVA-1800.     On this subject, Printed Solid notes:

    "Some designs use things like HEPA filters to reduce films for things like ABS, HEPA filters are not rated for the ultrafine particles (UFP) that people are concerned about with ABS. A better approach for managing these particles (aside from simply not using ABS) is to maintain a small pressure differential so that the enclosure is at a lower pressure than the room and particles do not flow out. You would then tie this exhaust into exhaust leaving the room."
