CowTech Ciclop 3D Scanner Kit
Meet the Ciclop by CowTech! This cutting-edge, developer-friendly 3D scanner is perfect for expert users looking to expand their digital fabrication skills. The Ciclop ships unassembled as a kit, with detailed assembly instructions perfect for integration in the advanced digital fabrication classroom. Use your LulzBot 3D Printer to produce the 3D printed components necessary to complete the build. Use several Free Software options like Horus to 3D scan objects and use Meshlab and Blender to prepare them for 3D printing.
By purchasing, building, and sharing your Ciclop 3D scanning experience with others you will be directly contributing to the further advancement of Free Software, Libre Innovation, and Open Source Hardware.Product Alert (1)
With an impressive laser scanning area of 200 mm in diameter and 205 mm in height, expert users can 3D scan a physical object almost the size of a volleyball! The scanning platform is rotated by a standard stepper motor and uses two scanning lasers to capture fine surface details with a 3D scanning precision of 0.5 mm (.02 in).
Once you have assembled your Ciclop 3D scanner, you'll use Horus to calibrate and operate the 3D scanner. The Horus software will control the scan of your physical object and generate a PLY point cloud file. We recommend using Blender and MeshLab to mesh, clean, and edit the file and to finally generate a 3D printable model in the STL file format. Use Cura LulzBot Edition to 3D print your digital model!
