This post is for the 2013 Hackerspace Giveaway. If you are looking for information and submission guidelines for 2014 Hackerspace Giveaway, where we are giving eight (8) LulzBot TAZ 3 3D printers to selected hackerspaces around the world in honor of Hardware Freedom Day, please visit: https://www.lulzbot.com/printer-giveaway-2014!

After reviewing more than 200 amazing entries, LulzBot has narrowed it down to just eight lucky winners for our first Hackerspace Giveaway! Before we announce the winners, we want to thank everyone who took the time to tell us about their projects and how you’re furthering the Libre Hardware movement. We continue to be inspired by the creativity and innovation driving the 3D printing industry on a grassroots level. “Everyone here at LulzBot has been blown away with the number of quality entries to the Hackerspace Giveaway,” comments Jeff Moe, President of Aleph Objects, “Seeing all the cool ways people are using 3D printers and contributing to the Open Source community reinforces why we are so passionate about what we do.”

With that said, we’d like to offer a big congratulations to the following winners: Freeside Atlanta (GA, USA) Ithaca Generator (NY, USA) FamiLAB (Longwood FL, USA) Splatspace (Durham NC, USA) Garoa Hacker Clube (São Paulo, Brazil) Makespace Madrid (Spain) hackerspace.gr (Athens, Greece) Warsaw Hackerspace (Poland) These eight innovative thinkers will receive a free AO-100 printer, which ships ready to print with a starter kit and 15 pounds of ABS plastic. The AO-100 is completely open source and includes free software downloads, making it the ideal hacker’s machine.

We hope our winners will enjoy changing, adapting and modifying to their heart’s content. Among the hundreds of entries, the projects submitted by these eight hackers truly stood out. From holding classes to further educate the public on 3D design and printing, to making advances in practical and medical devices - and always keeping their work free and open – we are confident that our printers will be put to excellent use by these outstanding winners. Thank you again to all of the phenomenally talented participants in the 2013 Hackerspace Giveaway, and stay tuned for more contests and giveaways in the future.

*A note to our winners: you will be contacted shortly by LulzBot staff to confirm your shipping information. An email may already be waiting for you – check your email at the address provided with your official entry!
