LulzBot 3D Printer

We are proud to celebrate Hardware Freedom Day by giving eight LulzBot TAZ 3D printers to deserving hackerspaces, however you have to apply to win! Today, Friday March 14th, is the last day for hackerspaces to submit applications for the 2014 hackerspace giveaway.

All submissions must be in by 11:59 PM Mountain Time. The application is available: here on our website.

We have a second contest going on right now over at r/3Dprinting on Reddit. The goal of the contest is to create a musical instrument designs, that actually make music! The assembly can be hand-assembled from printed parts, assembled-in-place on the printer, or both. You may create your own model, or modify an existing one, this contest is judged on design quality, aesthetic appeal, printability, and functionality. You can read the full contest rules on Reddit.

The Reddit contest is a month long, so you still have a couple weeks left to prepare a submission. We are already so impressed by what our community is busy making. Over on the LulzBot forum Tim Pierce, who goes by piercet on the forum, is putting the finishing touches on a trombone.

Tim's submission is so creative we couldn't help but ask if we could share it. Fortunately, he said yes! We included some pictures below for you to check out. We wish Tim, and all the other competitors, nothing but success in the contest, and encourage you to take a shot at designing your own submission. Think about it: You could win a free LulzBot 3D printer!
